Through a brief screening our Doctors of Physical Therapy will assess your fall risk. If your test reveals a balance deficit, our physical therapists will perform an evaluation that includes:
- Review of your medical history and medications
- Simple vision test
- Home safety assessment
- Measurements of your blood pressure and heart rate
- Leg strength and balance assessments
After your exam results are tabulated, we will work in conjunction with your physician to design a customized exercise and training program to improve your balance and strength.
Exercise Programs To Fit Your Lifestyle
Current research has found that exercise-based programs in the home are effective in preventing falls. As a result, our therapists will provide you with the tools to exercise within them comfort of your own home.
These at-home programs will include balance training instruction, strength and aerobic exercises, and fear management.
